See-Fine Garden Marker.  This is the marker of our choice and is used in all of our gardens and fields now.  Solaris Farms sells two sizes: 20" height and 26" height. They are sturdy, present information at the correct angle and will last many years in an outdoor environment (unlike many markers that bend, rust or decay).  We recommend Brother P-Touch® Labeling Systems, with a "TZ" tape for the above markers.  Labeling machines range in price $29.99 (hand held) to $100.00 (computer compatible).  The machines and tapes may be purchased locally at office supply stores or on the internet.  "TZ" tapes are UV, heat and water resistant and should last years in the garden.  Markers may also be written on with grease pencils or engraved.  We've tested these markers and labels in our gardens and fields and longevity is of no issue.  Try some,  you will be completely satisfied!

A-Frame Wren Bird House.  No garden is complete without a pesty Wren!  Seriously, Wrens are great bug eaters and are quite at home in a busy garden.  The Wren is a small bird and these bird houses are relatively small as well.  Pictured is a painted and aged bird house that has been in our garden for 10 years.  It is constructed of red and white cedar for long life.  We sell unpainted newly made bird houses.

White Cedar Blue Bird House.  If your garden has some open adjoining space, you will likely be able to attract a pair of Blue Birds.  Blue Birds are relatively shy and lead a very quiet life, but adjust nicely to areas where overhanging trees are not an issue.  Our Blue Bird houses are made of white cedar and will last many years.  This design has been successfully tested at the farm and regularly attracts these colorful birds.  Mount in an open area on a post or fence line three to five feet above the ground.

Handbook of the Peony.  American Peony Society.  7th addition 1995.  An outstanding and indispensible work that covers a wide variety of subjects concerning Paeonia.  The handbook is small, but, in our opinion, is the most complete and accurate publication for Peony gardeners.  Some of the subjects detailed include:  culture, disease, propagation (grafting, division, seed), varieties, exhibition, etc...  Top growers, hybridizers and gardeners of Peonies have written each section that best represents their expertise.  Excellent and inexpensive!

Let's Grow Lilies!  North American Lily Society & Virginia Howie.  14th reprint 2003.  An excellent resource for gardeners that want a resource that covers culture, propagation, nomenclature and a wide variety of other subjects concern true lilies.  The book is illustrated with line drawings that are a throw back to the 1960's, but are extremely accurate and easy to use.  We've not seen another book that has the detail and wellspring of information that this publication has to offer.  Superior in all regards and is the book that we recommend over all others regarding Lilium.
